Paths Crossing
Friendship knows no boundaries, be it linguistic barriers, cultural differences or geographical distances. I met Sana, my best friend, four years ago while studying in an international school. We were thrown into the same group project, and our friendship flourished from there. Though we come from different countries - I from India and she from Japan - we share common interests and passions. Our love for books, music and dance brought us together, and we found comfort in each other's company.
Bridging the Gap
Despite the distance that separates us, Sana and I have managed to keep our friendship alive. Initially, we would chat on social media and call each other frequently. As we got busier with our studies, we started to communicate less frequently, but we made sure to catch up properly during holidays. We also made it a point to learn about each other's culture, language and customs. Sana taught me basic Japanese, and I introduced her to Hindi films and Indian cuisine. We realized that it was important to be open-minded and respectful towards each other's differences.
The Power of Technology
In the current era, the advancement in communication has made it easier to keep in touch with friends and family despite the distance. The pandemic has restricted physical travel, but it has also allowed me to strengthen my bond with Sana. We have started to plan virtual movie nights, cook-alongs and even online dance sessions. We have found new ways to explore our interests and hobbies through the internet. The distance between us has only made us appreciate and cherish our friendship even more. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, \"A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature\" - and I couldn't agree more.
